In a bid to curb people who try to sneak in flights with fake e-tickets, the Pune International Air port will soon introduce the bar code feature to legitimately verify the flier. The move comes in after the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has claimed a rise in the incidents of fliers with bogus tickets.
According to a senior CISF officer, they nab one person every 10 days for sneaking in with a fake eticket across India. "It is the duty of CISF personnel to check e-tickets and verify the travellers by checking their identity cards. They have no way to identify the genuineness of an e-ticket. They just verify the ticket date, name and passenger's credentials before allowing them to enter," the CISF official said. He added that once this technology is set in motion, the CISF guards will not be needed at the gate to check tickets. "They will remain there to ensure that no one manages to enter without verifying details. Also, bag gage stamping and security stamping will be done by using the barcode scanners," the official said.
A senior officer from the Pune airport on condition of anonymity told Pune Mirror, "The barcode scanner will help CISF nab fake travellers Once the system is in place, no on will be able to enter the airport termi nal building with fake tickets. We ar hopeful that CISF will be able to check tickets automatically."
